In the beginning, there was the tweet, and it was not good.
In case you’ve forgotten, back in 2007, Karan Thapar had attempted to interview Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat. When Thapar had asked if Modi felt he had an “image problem”, Modi walked out. This happened within five minutes so it would be unfair to call this an interview in the conventional sense.
Why was Aaj Tak’s official Twitter handle bringing that old interview up now and comparing Thapar — who is now with India Today — to Goswami? One Twitter user figured it was because its #TrollTuesday at the Aaj Tak office.
Unfortunately for Aaj Tak, despite this attempt at pleading to @manichejain’s humanity, the tweet has not been deleted. We at Newslaundry are heartbroken that #ShameonAajTak is trending on Twitter, and not #HumansBehindMachines.
