‘Such clothes shouldn’t be worn which have an adverse effect on kids’: Vadodara police commissioner on New Year celebrations

The Vadodara police commissioner, Anupam Singh Gehlot, has issued a statement laying down guidelines for New Year celebrations.

ANI reported that he said: “CCTVs should be present at all venues, no drugs or alcohol should be served and such clothes should not be worn which have an adverse effect on children.”

Indian Express reported that the notification stated: “Every year, under the pretext of celebrations for December 31 to welcome the new year, anti-social elements, either by themselves or through people known to them organise various kinds of parties. During such parties, the celebrations include consumption of intoxicating drinks, indulging in indecent behaviour or posture.” The notification also emphasised that CCTVs must be installed at party venues.

Indian Express added that the statement said: “Those found in violation of these orders will be punishable under Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act, punishment for which varies from fine or imprisonment up to three months.”
