The Broadcast Audience Research Council India, an industry body that measures TV viewership, has appointed Sunil Lulla as its new chief executive officer.
BARC India, a joint venture of broadcasters, advertisers, and advertising and media agencies, describes itself as the world’s largest TV audience measurement company.
Lulla, an industry veteran and former group CEO of Balaji Telefilms, succeeds Partho Dasgupta, who announced his resignation earlier today. “It has been a tremendous journey to set up the world’s largest audience measurement company with the least investment and in the quickest time,” said Dasgupta, who was the first CEO of BARC India. “Having set it up, expanding the panel and introducing new insight products for News, Sports, Music and OOH genres, I thought it is time to move on and do new things.”
Lulla said he was delighted to get the leadership role. Speaking about BARC India’s growing footprint in the rapidly evolving TV and digital media industry, he added, “Things are changing fast and audience measurement has to keep pace with all these. I thank Partho for bringing the company to where it is and wish him a great time ahead.”
