The committee will be headed by Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ordered the constitution of a committee today to review guidelines on "television rating agencies" in India, ANI reported.
The committee will be headed by Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati and will "make recommendations" to make the ratings system more "robust, transparent and accountable".
Other members of the committee are Dr Shalabh from IIT Kanpur, Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay from the Centre for Development of Telematics, and Professor Pulak Ghosh from the Centre for Public Policy.
The constitution of the committee comes after the Mumbai police announced a "TRP manipulation scam" in Maharashtra last month. The police named Republic TV and two Marathi entertainment channels as being involved in the scam. The investigation is ongoing.
