This week, host Akanksha Kumar is joined by Newslaundry’s Anna Priyadarshini and freelance journalists Suprakash Majumdar and Devendra Pratap Singh Shekhawat.
Suprakash talks about his story in Foreign Policy on how Dalit farmers are deprived rights to land, with some of them forced to work as bonded labourers. He explains the anger of these farmers against “the upper castes and the landlords” and describes their stance on the three farm laws that were recently repealed by the Modi government.
Devendra then talks about his report in Article14 on Dalits being attacked in Rajasthan – and the crimes being caught on camera. “This crime is not just performed by the upper caste but by the dominating castes in the area, which includes the OBCs,” he says.
The panel then talks about measures taken by the Delhi government to curb air pollution, in the context of Anna’s report in Newslaundry. Anna says short-term solutions are “cosmetic measures”, and there’s no long-term solution to the problem.
