The podcast where we discuss the news of the week.
This week on NL Hafta, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Manisha Pande, Raman Kirpal, and Jayashree Arunachalam are joined by executive editor of EastMojo Amit Kumar and Rajasthan-based journalist Tabeenah Anjum.
The discussion begins with the catastrophic impact of the recent floods in Assam. “We don’t need clothes in the name of relief but a much more robust system of compensation,” Amit says, decrying the failure of relief measures. He specifically points to the lack of attention to crop damage and health degradation.
The conversation shifts to the killing of a tailor named Kanhaiya Lal by two extremist Muslim men in Udaipur. “The media was on their worst display this time and showed more hate than the people on the streets,” Abhinandan says.
The panel also discuss the US Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v Wade, which granted the legal right to abortion, and the subsequent protests across the country.
This and a lot more, only on NL Hafta.
