The Kerala High Court has reserved its verdict on a petition challenging the State Information Commission’s order which asked the state government to put the Justice K Hema Committee report in the public domain with limited redactions, LiveLaw reported.

Formed in 2017, the panel was tasked with studying and suggesting solutions for issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.

Justice VC Arun has reserved the order for August 13.

The petition was filed by film producer Sajimon Parayil. But the Kerala Women’s Commission and the Women in Cinema Collective opposed the petition and said it would serve no purpose if the report was not made public.

The petitioner had contended that revealing the contents of the report even with redactions would violate the right to privacy of those who deposed before the committee. But the WCC pointed to doubts surrounding the petitioner.

The state government pleader submitted that the petition was not maintainable as the petitioner had no locus standi to challenge the order.
