Jobs, inflation, and statehood have turned out to be the biggest poll issues in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, which has three assembly seats and around 60 percent Muslim population.

A divide, meanwhile, is clear when it comes to issues such as the abrogation of Article 370. Regional parties have been talking about both full statehood and Article 370 while the BJP – which is facing public anger in rural areas over unemployment and price rise – has promised only statehood if voted to power in the elections.

Doda, Doda West, and Bhaderwah are among 24 assembly seats that are going to polls in the first phase of the assembly elections in the union territory on Wednesday.
