A string of cases against NCP leaders and the argument that there was “no escape” other than siding with the BJP led Sharad Pawar to a “dinner meeting” hosted by businessman Gautam Adani at his home in Delhi.

In an exclusive conversation with Sreenivasan Jain, senior Pawar explained the curious choice of venue, pointing out that nowadays, “people know Mr Adani” but Pawar knew him “from when his name was also not there”.

Besides giving an insight into the meeting, Pawar spoke about his own relationship with Adani, Congress’s backlash, Narendra Modi’s campaign, the upcoming elections, and the possibility of Ajit Pawar returning to the party.

“I don’t see the Modi factor,” said Pawar, adding that the BJP resorting to “vote jihad and Hindutva” was a clear indication that it’s campaign was faltering.
