Months after his removal as an ad hoc professor from Delhi University’s Zakir Hussain College, Laxman Yadav wrote Professor ki Diary – a book recalling his experience on campus and raising questions over academic freedom in the country.

Yadav says he was removed from the college as part of a “conspiracy”. “The selection committee showed me the way out from the college where I had taught for 14 years after just a 14-minute interview. That too without giving any reason. I had 96 out of 100 marks in that interview. Six people who had less marks than me and sat in the interview with me got selected.”

“Today, people from the same family are being given the opportunity to become a professor, people associated with RSS and some special people are being given the opportunity.”
