Election Wash – A Facebook Talks Event

On November 25, 1949 Dr. Ambedkar rose in the Constituent Assembly and gave a stirring speech presenting to the new nation the principles of political and social democracy through “one man one vote and one vote one value”.  “Independence” he said “ is no doubt a matter of joy. But let us not forget that this independence has thrown on us great responsibilities.”

On 7 April, 2014 the country goes to elect the 16^th Lok Sabha (or House of the people) over a month long period in 9 phases of elections all over the country. In Season II of Facebook Talks, we are going back to the core principles of the founding fathers and taking the show to the people in some important constituencies. You – the Citizen of India will be the focus of the show. Madhu Trehan Editor–in Chief of Newslaundry.com will take this travelling show to Amritsar, Varanasi and Vadodara and hold Citizen townhalls which bring out the issues you care about and focus on the change you want. Facebook groups will be created for Amritsar, Varanasi and Vadodara where our local facebook community can post short video entries for selection for being on the Citizen panel for the townhalls. Through facebook events our facebook community in these constituencies can register to attend and watch and participate in this event on location.  Video from the town halls will be made available for viewing on Facebook India and Newslaundry.
