Amit Shah calls Mahatma Gandhi a ‘chatur baniya’, Congress – a party without ‘vichaardhara’

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah is on three-day Chhattisgarh trip. On Friday, Shah spoke about the BJP and the Congress. Shah claimed that that the Congress was merely a “special purpose vehicle” to secure freedom, he also that Mahatma Gandhi was a “chatur baniya”.

On second day of trip, which is a bid to strengthen the party before the next elections, the BJP chief said, “Congress kisi ek vichaar dhaara ke adhaar par, kisi ek siddhant ke adhaar par bani hui party hi nahi hai, woh azadi prapt karne ka ek special purpose vehicle hai, azadi prapt karne ka ek saadhan tha (The Congress is not a party based on one ideology or principle, it was a special purpose vehicle to secure independence).”

He added that Gandhi could foresee this, “bahut chatur baniya tha woh, usko maloom tha aage kya hone wala hai, usne azadi ke baad turant kaha tha, Congress ko bikher dena chahiye (He was a very clever businessman. He knew what was going to happen in the future; immediately after independence he had said that the Congress should be dissolved.)”

According to Shah, as Gandhi couldn’t disintegrate the Congress party, hence others are doing so. “Isliye hi kaha tha Mahatma Gandhi ne, kyunki Congress ki koi ideology hi nahi thi, siddhanto ke aadhar par bani hui party hi nahi thi. Desh chalaane ke, sarkar chalaane ke koi siddhant hi nahi the (He said so because the Congress had no ideology or principle to run the country or government,)” said Shah.

The chief of the biggest national party also said that only the BJP and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had internal democracy in their party forums.
