‘Are we going to succumb to militants?’: J&K govt carries front-page ad in Greater Kashmir
The Srinagar editions of Greater Kashmir carried a front-page advertisement today by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, asking if the public would succumb to “tactics of threats and coercion” by “militants” by not resuming business as usual in the area.
Saying Kashmir is at a “crossroads today”, the ad asked whether “threat and misinformation will prevail”.
The ad said “separatists” had “instigated the common people to push their children into violence, stone pelting and hartals”. It said: “For over 70 years now, the people of J& K have been misled. They have been victims of a vicious campaign and motivated propaganda that has kept them trapped in an endless cycle of terrorism, violence, destruction and poverty.”
Today is the 68th day of the shutdown in Kashmir.
