Hyderabad rape accused killing: Cyberabad police chief’s men carried out a similar shooting in Warangal in 2008
The four accused in the Hyderbad gangrape and murder case were shot dead by the police in Shad Nagar area of Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district Friday morning.
The police claimed that they had taken the four men to the spot where they had allegedly raped and then murdered a 26-year-old veterinary doctor for “crime scene reconstruction” in the early hours of Friday. There, the police claimed, the accused tried to run away and were gunned down by the Chatanpally Bridge, where the body of the veterinarian was found last Thursday.
The slain men were Mohammad Areef Pasha, Jollu Naveen Kumar, Jollu Shiva, and Chintakunta Chenna Keshavulu. The shooting took place at around 6.30 am.
As to why the accused were taken to the spot so early in the morning, the police claimed that they feared the four men could be attacked by angry members of the public.
Around 11 years ago, on December 12, 2008, three young men were arrested for throwing acid on two women students of the Kakatiya Engineering College in Warangal, now in Telangana. The following day, they were taken for “the reconstruction of the crime scene”. The superintendent of the Warangal police at the time was VC Sajjanar. He had claimed when they reached the spot, the accused took out a country-made pistol to attack the police. The police immediately shot them dead. VC Sajjanar is now the commissioner of Cyberabad police, whose sleuths gunned dead the four accused in Hyderabad.
