Rafale: Ravish Kumar tells you how to sensationalise a non-sensational event

"Sawaal aane wala hai. 1 minute nikal jaata hai. Tab tak music mein table ka tone aata hai. DHAIN DHAIN DHAIN DHANA DHAN." (The question is coming. One minute has passed. Now there will be a tabla-filling tone in the background music which goes DHAIN DHAIN DHAIN DHANA DHAN.)

This was one of the lines thrown by Ravish Kumar at his unsuspecting audience during his primetime show last night. Ravish did a show on the media coverage of the arrival of the Rafale jets, which was was quite over the top, to put it mildly. He adopted a sarcastic tone throughout the show and told the viewers about the importance of remembering "historic" days: like the birthdays of famous people, and Rafale landing in India, and about how to do a sensational report on a largely non-sensational event.

As he said, "TV ke paas content nahi hai, lekin darshako ke paas TV hai."

A wide-eyed Kumar took on the government and the media about the coverage of Rafale arrival event, while talking about how some other significant events were being ignored as a result.
