Newslaundry and India Data Portal announce Data Journalism Fellowship
The Newslaundry-India Data Portal Data Journalism Fellowship is an initiative to hone the next cohort of data journalists in India. It is aimed at training journalists to use data and data visualization as effective storytelling devices.
The first phase of the fellowship consists of a four-week programme to familiarize the fellows with datasets on India Data Portal, attend exclusive masterclasses and get research support from the Indian School of Business, and publish data-driven stories. Based on how they perform, the fellows move to phases 2 and 3, which include workshops on long-form writing, masterclasses, and a one-week research trip to the Indian School of Business’s campus in Mohali.
For the first phase, 16 journalists will be selected as fellows by a jury comprising editors from Newslaundry and editors working in Bengali, Oriya, Marathi, and Telugu media.
The programme will have adequate gender, caste, and geographical representation.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 29, 2021.
