Inside Mahua Moitra’s campaign trail: Sandeshkhali row, ‘Bengali identity’ and Modi

Trinamool Congress leader and former Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra has remained in the news – at times for her fiery remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and more recently over the cash-for-query allegation that led to her expulsion from Lok Sabha and the public spat between her and her “former partner”.

Moitra is in the fray again from Krishnanagar, one of the eight seats in West Bengal to vote on May 13.

In this episode of Another Election Show, we traced Moitra’s campaign trail in Krishnanagar’s Kaliganj. At her public meeting in the area, which was also attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee, the latter linked the Sandeshkhali incident with “Bengali identity” and attacked Modi.

The TMC leader also took out a road show which passed through several villages. Speaking to Newslaundry, Moitra said the election is a “fight for survival” and she is confident of victory. She also alleged that Sandeshkhali is a “fake narrative by the BJP”.
