‘Buy this if you want to ruin your life’: The hapless Ola e-scooter buyers from Delhi

Last week, Ola shares plunged after an online spat between its CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra over customer service issues with the company’s electric scooters.

While Aggarwal and a section of social media users defended the company’s record, Newslaundry visited two Ola service centres in Delhi’s Moti Nagar and Sant Nagar to find the truth on the ground.

In Moti Nagar, there were more Ola Electric scooters gathering dust outside the service centre than those undergoing service inside. Many customers had to wait for months due to a delay in service, be it for spare parts, or software glitches, or problems with the front suspension of the Ola S1 series.

Irshad, one of the customers at the centre, said he had bought the Ola S1 scooter around 15 months ago. But just a few months later, the front suspension was damaged. He said he has been visiting the service centre for the last six months but the issue is yet to be resolved.

Many others shared similar experiences.
