Newsance 274: From ‘vote jihad’ to land grabs, BJP and Godi’s playbook returns

As assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand caught steam this week, politicians engaged in a war of words and our usual suspects united to rally behind the governing party. 

Amid this, ABP’s Chitra Tripathi attempted to address the use of derogatory language by politicians, only to be met with party spokespersons pushing the boundaries of politeness further. The BJP’s “Muslim infiltrators” and “vote jihad” rhetoric also made a comeback, cheered on by our beloved anchors. 

Sudhir Chaudhary, a self-styled “jihad expert”, escalated the narrative with misinformation and claimed that Muslim men are allegedly marrying Adivasi women in Jharkhand to grab their land.
