It has been four months since Arnab Goswami stepped down as Editor-in-Chief and President of Times Now and ET Now. Since then Goswami has trained his energies on promoting his new venture Republic TV through interviews and talks across the country. At one such event, ISOMES Manthan Media Fest 2017, held in Noida, Goswami declared his intention to fight “fake” and “compromised” media and also opened up about his last days at Times Now.

Goswami was in conversation with News 24 anchor Manak Gupta and told him, “Two days before I left Times Now, I was stopped from doing my show. I was told I was not allowed to do the show…you must have noticed 18th November was my last day [at Times Now].” Newslaundry had reported then that the management at the Times TV Network had canned Goswami’s last Newshour, titled “We Changed The News”, which was supposed to be a four-hour long show with a select panel comprising all the regulars on Newshour.

“I was not allowed to enter my own studio, the studio I built… Manak, I was very upset. When you build an institution and you are not allowed to enter your own studio, you feel sad. It hurts you,” he added.

Speaking about his new venture, Goswami said he along with a “young” group of journalists will raise questions. “Will we ask difficult questions or will we avoid them? Should I stop asking these questions or should I play safe?” he asked while addressing the audience at the event.
